Literacy Programs in Fredericton, New Brunswick

Frontier College is Canada's original literacy organization. In Fredericton, we recruit volunteers to work with learners in the following literacy programs. We screen and train all of our volunteers before they go into the community.

Homework Clubs

Homework Club for Newcomers at the Multicultural Association of Fredericton (bilingual)
Tutors work with newcomer children and youth on homework and language skills.

Boys & Girls Club Homework and Reading Clubs – Devon (Northside) and Skyline Acres (Southside) locations (bilingual)
Tutors help kids attending the after-school program with reading and homework.

Homework Club for Newcomers at the Centre communautaire Ste-Anne (French)
Tutors help newcomer students attending classes at École des Bâtisseurs and École Ste-Anne with their homework in French. Tutors are also available to help students improve their French language skills.

Adult Literacy Program

Adult Newcomer Literacy Program at the Multicultural Association of Fredericton (bilingual)
Tutors work with newcomers to improve their literacy skills through interactive reading and writing activities.

In-Class Tutoring Help

Enbridge Gas NB / Nashwaaksis Memorial School Program
Employees are given time off work to tutor kindergarten students at Nashwaaksis Memorial School who need extra help reading during actual class time.

Barkers Point School
Tutors help students in-class attending K-Gr. 2 students at Barkers Point School with basic literacy concepts.

One-to-One Tutoring

Youth Newcomer One-to-One Tutoring (bilingual)
Tutors help newcomer students at George Street Middle School, Leo Hayes High School and Fredericton High School with their school work, reading, writing, organizational skills, English language skills, etc.

One-to-One Tutoring (bilingual)
Tutors are paired up with children, youth and adults who need help with reading, writing or language skills.
